Student artwork showcased at 2015 Superintentend’s art show

The halls of the Union County Public Schools’ Central Services were a buzz of activity Thursday when the 2015 Superintendent’s Student Art Showcase took center stage. Art teachers from each of the system’s 53 schools selected two pieces of artwork to represent their school in the art show. Dr. Mary Ellis established the event in 2013 in order to meet the young artists and recognize their work. “We are honored to have our students’ artwork displayed in our Central Services office,” said Dr. Mary Ellis, superintendent. “Each time we walk the hallways, we are reminded of our students’ talents and artistic skills."

Going Global with Fitness, Burpees, and Fun!

Leslie Carmichael, our PE Teacher, interacts with fellow Physical Educators around the world on TWITTER. She uses TWITTER to follow trends in Physical Education, fitness, assessment, and technology.  Recently Mrs. Carmichael was “Burped,” on Twitter, by a teacher, Jason Lloyd, in Ontario, Canada. His fifth and sixth grade students at Deseronto Public School in Ontario came up with a challenge called “Burp It On” to challenge students in their school to get more exercise and bring awareness to the importance of fitness.  The idea caught on and has gone global!
